Beverley hairstylist’s wigs could be seen on Beyoncé very soon
Global sensation Beyoncé, could soon be seen sporting a wig handcrafted and designed by a hairstylist from Hull.
Dominic Ackah-Amihere recently met up with Beyoncé’s hairstyling team in Los Angeles after impressing them with his work. Dominic, who owns UrbanQtr in Beverley, specialises in making wigs and attracted the attention of the singer’s team after posting his creations on Instagram.
He was then flown out to Las Vegas to do a client’s wedding, before handing over five of his “Bishspoke” wigs to Beyoncé’s team, who plan to use them in their upcoming content – which could feature Beyoncé herself.

Dominic’s wigs caught the attention of the LA professionals when he recreated one of Beyoncé’s wig looks, using his own techniques. When he posted his work online, Beyoncé’s personal stylist and wig colourist got in touch and they have been in contact ever since.
Dominic has been paving his way in the wig industry for a few years now but a huge part of his passion came from being diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, after finding a lump in his groin at only 23. This experience led to him creating and donating realistic and handcrafted wigs to the Teenage Cancer Trust at Castle Hill Hospital in the past.

He told Hull Live at the time: “For me, hairdressing is my life, so I thought I could use my craft to help by making the wigs. I couldn’t have done this without my staff though, they have been absolutely amazing and put in extra hours with me to help create the designs.”
He estimates that the wigs take about 10 hours to create and style, to make as realistic as possible. He said: “These wigs really are bespoke and I have already had people commenting on how natural they look and how they don’t look like the normal wigs people are usually given.”
His hairdressing salon has received straight five-star reviews from clients and has had a host of celebrity guests. Stars such as Katie Price, Vicky Pattison and Megan Barton-Hanson have called upon the talented hairstylist to fashion wigs for them in recent years.
