Anne Hathaway sports half-up bouffant on the Cannes red carpet
Alongside the heat and any excuse to hit up a rooftop bar, I love the summertime for giving me a social life. Of course, it also brings wedding season – cue panic-buying hundreds of dresses on ASOS, only to return them all and go with something that I had in my cupboard all along.
But as well as dress stress, I never know what to do with my hair. So, when I saw Anne Hathaway sporting the perfect wedding guest hairstyle, you know I was taking screenshots of every angle. The actor walked the red carpet at Cannes in the cutest futuristic-style mini dress by Gucci, along with some mega silver heels – but it’s her hair I can’t stop staring at.
Anne’s hair has been styled into a very loose wave, which I’m guessing isn’t far off her natural hair. But then, it’s been scraped back into a dreamy half-up hairdo. But this isn’t just any ol’ half-up hairstyle, nope. The top part of her hair has loads of volume for a little bouffant effect. In fact, this hairstyle is enough to make me want to dig out my old Bump-Its – anybody else ever use those? The tangles those things caused… but anyway, I digress.
To give the hairstyle a modern edge, celebrity hairstylist (and mastermind behind this look) Adir Abergel, teased out large chunks of hair at the front to frame Anne’s face. And honestly? I just love everything about this look. It somehow strikes the perfect balance between looking casual and chic. Sidenote: writing that made me realise what the term ‘casual-chic’ actually means.

Of course, Anne’s look went down a storm on Instagram, with fans flooding her pics with comments.
One fan wrote: “You are making Miranda Priestly proud! Looking fabulous ”
One user added: “you aged 2 minutes since The Princess Diaries”.
While another summed up our thoughts entirely, writing: “Queen Amelia Mignonette Thermopolis Renaldi ”.
I think I need a serious glam makeover with The Princess Diaries’ Paolo.
